The 2020-21 high school season is officially underway as the Border League is set to tip off in Phoenix this weekend.

Over 75 Division I recruits will be in attendance across 20+ programs that fall within our coverage area.

First Team:

Jaden Hardy - Air Nado (NV)

Most Valuable Player

Offensive Player of the Event

Jaden Hardy was almost unstoppable this weekend. His unlimited range and pure shooting ability was on for sure. In a win over Team Sizzle, Hardy made nine three-pointers on his way to 46 points. His ability to break his defenders down helped him create space to get his jump shot off. He brought high intensity to all three games and it showed in his play.

30 PTS (6 3PTM) for Air Nado (NV) in a win over Team Sizzle (MN)

46 PTS (9 3PTM) for Air Nado (NV) in a win over Team Sizzle (MN)

18 PTS, 5 REB, 4 AST for Air Nado vs. National Spotlight

Mousse Diabate - National Spotlight (FL)

Diabate showed us that he has been working on his game tremendously during the quarantine. He ran the floor very well, leading to many dunks and active plays in transition. His ability to alter shots and start the fast break gave National Spotlight many opportunities to score. His improvement in his mid-range game just adds another element to his pro-like style, he showed us this weekend that when he catches at the foul line area, he is always a threat to score.

18 PTS, 13 REB, 4 BLK  vs. Air Nado (NV)

14 PTS, 7 REB  in a win over LV Orange (NV)

Tamar Bates - National Spotlight (FL)

Breakout Player of Event

The Texas commit was a huge help to National Spotlight in their championship run. Bates was great on the defensive end, taking responsibility of Jaden Hardy in the championship game and holding him to only two field goals in the second half. On the offensive end Bates was very patient with his play. He picked apart defenses throughout the whole weekend. He shot the ball at a very high level, whether it was a pull up in the lane, or off a skip pass for three. Bates also got his teammates involved. He was great at getting into the paint and drawing the defender, then making a perfect drop off pass to the bigs.

38 points (15-24 FG 4-9 3PM) - 3 games

Chet Holmgren - Team Sizzle (MN)

Defensive Player of Event

The best shot blocker in the nation, lived up to the hype behind his defense. It was almost like every attempt at a lay-up, Holmgren was there to block the shot. In Team Sizzle's game against The Storm, Chet had a triple double, with 11 blocks. Standing at 7'1, Holmgren plays like a guard. Multiple times we saw him on the perimeter showing off his ball handling skills. Holmgren  made a great amount of threes throughout the weekend as well. Overall, Chet Holmgren had an outstanding weekend on the offensive and defensive end.

18 PTS, 19 REB, 11 BLK, 4 AST in a win over The Storm (NC)

17 PTS, 12 REB, 12 BLK vs. Coronado

10 PTS, 8 REB, 7 BLK vs. Big Red (CA)

Wilhelm Breidenbach - Big Red (CA)

Breidenbach has a very fundamental game, and it works to his advantage. The 6-foot-9 center was great on the glass for Big Red, both on the defensive and offensive side. His long frame helped him block shots and get easy put backs.  He moves very well for his size and is a vocal leader on the floor. The Nebraska-commit is great in the pick and roll. He set great screens all weekend and always would get great position on his defenders to put himself in scoring positions. His communication on defense was second-to-none, and his ability to defend the pick-and-roll was on full display.

Frankie Collins - Air Nado (NV)

Collins is one of the best true point guards from the class of 2021. Helping Air Nado get to the championship game with his leadership skills, Collins was great at getting his offense set up. He has an incredibly quick first step that he used to his advantage to get to the basket. Collins is a great passer as well. Michigan is getting a great point guard and leader once he arrives on campus.

9 PTS, 5 REB, 5 AST, 8 STL  vs. National Spotlight (FL)

2nd Team

Zaon Collins - LV Orange (NV)

Zaon Collins has a breakout weekend. The 6-foot-1 point guard showed us all that he is one of the floor generals from his class. His ability to push the break helped give LV Orange multiple fast break points. The UNLV commit is a very unselfish player, always looking for his teammates first before himself.

14 PTS (6-9 FG), 5 STL, 5 AST, 4 REB, 2 BLK  in a win over Storm (NC)

18 PTS, 5 AST vs. National Spotlight (FL)

Nate Bittle - Prolific Prep (CA)

The recent Oregon commit made his debut with Prolific Prep this weekend and he did not disappoint. Bittle has great hands and great footwork. He did a tremendous job at grabbing rebounds and finding his guards then sprinting to his spots on the offensive end. The future Duck will help Prolific Prep tons this season.

6 PTS, 8 REB, 3 BLK  vs. Air Nado (NV)

Jaden Bradley - National Spotlight (FL)

Bradley's passing this weekend was off the charts. He put his teammates in positions that were so easy to score. He showed us many crafty finishes around the rim. Bradley is also a true point guard, his court vision is terrific and his ball handling takes him to a different level. Jaden will be a key part of IMG's team this season.

15 PTS, 4 AST in a win over LV Orange (NV)

Nick Davidson - Big Red (CA)

Nick Davidson really jells into any offense you put him in. He has a very high basketball IQ and it showed with his smart plays throughout the event. Davidson, the 6'6 forward can score at all three levels. He showed us a lot of his outside to mid-range game this weekend. His shot blocking ability is very underrated, coming up with multiple blocks in his games.

Prince Aligbe - Team Sizzle (MN)

Aligbe is one of the most versatile players from the class of 2022. Bringing the ball up most times this weekend for Team Sizzle, he showed us his versatile play. He is very strong when driving to the basket, using his body to finish through contact. Aligbe also showed us his will to defend. He guarded multiple positions very well, using his quickness take advantage of bigger opponents. He showed us major improvements in his jump shot, this will carry over to his season at Minnehaha Academy.

13 PTS, 6 REB in win over The Storm (NC)

Kamari Lands - Prolific Prep (CA)

Lands proved to everyone that when it comes down to the last shot who is taking it, and that person is himself. In a battle against LV Orange (NV) Lands hit a deep pull up three with seconds remaining on the clock to seal the win for Prolific Prep. For a guard, Lands is a great rebounder. He is the an all around player, can score at all three levels, defended well all weekend, and is not afraid to step up in big time moments.

14 PTS, 8 REB, 4 AST vs. Air Nado (NV)

16 PTS (4 3PTM) in win vs. LV Orange (NV)

3rd Team

Oakland Fort - Tri Star (AZ)

Oakland Fort has great shooting abilities. Defenders were caught sleeping or going under screens in pick and roll play, he would read the defense and hit some big time threes. He is great at shooting off the catch, but his ability to shoot off the dribble was very impressive. Fort was one of the most consistent floor generals all weekend and proved to be an elite shooter late in the shot clock.

26 PTS in win vs. Big Red (CA)

Mikey Williams - The Storm (NC)

Top Underclassmen of Event

Mikey Williams, one of the top ranked players from the class of 2023 made his television debut and did not disappoint. Being one of the youngest players in the event, Mikey has skills of a pro. His ability to get to his spots and right into his shot is hard to guard. Pouring in 25 points vs. Team Sizzle, Williams is not scared of the spotlight. His athletic ability allows to re-direct his body in mid air to make some tough finishes. The shooting range of Williams is amazing, pulling up ten feet beyond the three point arc and draining it.

25 PTS, 3 REB vs. Team Sizzle

Carson Basham - Tri Star (AZ)

The 6-foot-10 center has great touch around the rim. He showed us this weekend that he is a threat to score with his back facing the basket, or facing up and making a move. He has great tendencies to crash the offensive glass every possession. Basham can also spread his game out to the three point line with his smooth shooting stroke. The Pepperdine commit showed massive strides on defense as well, and figures to be an immediate impact player for the Wave next fall.

Jett Howard - National Spotlight (FL)

Howard had a productive outing. He had flashes of great playmaking in National Spotlight's game vs, LV Storm. Very athletic for his size which he showed with a very impressive dunk in that game as well. His shooting abilities have improved which adds another level to his game.

10 PTS vs. Tri-Star (AZ)

14 PTS, 4 AST in a win over LV Orange (NV)

AJ Storr - LV Orange (NV)

Storr is a competitor. In a hard fought loss to Prolific Prep (CA), he showed out. He shot the ball very well, and showed off his leaping ability. He defends very well and always plays hard. Making 4-6 three pointers in the game, he showed his ability to shoot the ball, keeping defenders on their heels. He was great at getting right into his mid-range pull up.

21 PTS (4 3PTM) vs. Prolific Prep (CA)

Mouhamed Gueye - Prolific Prep (CA)

The 6-foot-11 center helped hold down the paint for Prolific Prep.  Gueye has great footwork, helping him get easy baskets inside. One of the best rebounders from the weekend as well on both ends. Once he tightens a few of his skills up, Gueye will be one every college coach's radar. He brings a high motor to every game and always plays hard.

17 PTS, 5 REB vs. Air Nado (NV)
